Jackson Pioneer Cemetery, Castle Rock, WA
Established in 1855, Jackson Pioneer Cemetery is home to approximately 63 memorials and holds a rich piece of local history. Nearly every headstone had toppled over, and the cemetery’s hilltop location accessible only through private property made rehabilitation a major undertaking. Using ATVs and hiking in all necessary supplies, our team carefully preserved and reset each headstone, honoring the lives and stories they represent. This important work was made possible through a grant from the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.
